Spring News & Needs

"Spring is the time of plans and projects." — Leo Tolstoy

Here at The Wildlife-Line, we have sprung into action in preparing our habitats, volunteers, and recovery spaces for what we anticipate to be a busy season of rehabilitating animals that will come to us from all over the state of Connecticut.

We have the following projects in the works to make sure we are ready for fox, possum, squirrels, woodchucks, raccoons, skunks, groundhogs, and fawns. We could not do this without the time and enthusiasm of our volunteers and gracious donors.

We depend completely on our community to make the most difference in these orphaned & injured animals’ lives.

We are currently disinfecting our rehabilitation surfaces, cleaning and preparing outdoor habitats, setting up ideal cage habitats, and making sure we are stocked with food and medicine.

To that end we are
urgently asking for:

A power washer (to power wash and disinfect the outdoor cages), paper towels, pads, dish soap, no-spill or flat metal bowls, zip ties, pedialyte and other supplies.

These can be ordered easily via

Our Amazon Wish List.

Monarch butterflies need our help. They depend on milkweed to survive, but this flowering plant is declining due in part to herbicide use. We need to create and maintain monarch habitats, which we plan to do at the Wildlife Line. Please help us create this important habitat.

To that end we are asking for:
Milkweed Plants, Butterfly Bushes

JohnBela currently has a few Milkweed Plants available from last year, they are 4ft tall already! More will be coming in soon, including Butterfly Bushes.  Please call Isabel at (860) 750-4799 or email info@johnbelagifts.com at any time to purchase and we can have someone pick them up when they are available.

We also need volunteers to help us create the garden.  Come with a friend! Gardening experience preferred.  Please fill out our volunteer form and indicate this project in the comments.

Thank you on behalf of all of the orphaned and injured animals that we are caring for!
